I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be participating in NADA Miami this year, running from December 3–7, 2024 at Ice Palace Studios. This fair has always been one of my favorites—it’s such an inspiring mix of creativity and community, and I’m honored to be part of it this year with DIMIN.

I’ll be debuting a new ceramic sculpture titled Nephthys’ Vase. This piece feels especially close to my heart. It’s inspired by Nephthys, the ancient Egyptian goddess of protection, transformation, and the unseen. This piece builds on my ongoing exploration of mythology and materiality, merging timeless symbolism with contemporary forms. Working with ceramics for this piece felt like an exciting challenge. I wanted the texture and form to echo something ancient yet feel fresh and alive—like a connection between the past and present.

NADA Miami Recap

As Miami Art Week comes to a close, I’m excited to reflect on an unforgettable experience and share installation views of my work, presented by DIMIN at NADA. The fair, which wrapped up on December 7th, was an inspiring exchange of ideas, filled with incredible art, stylish crowds, and vibrant energy.

Arriving in Miami last Monday, I was eager to see the installation the next day. That moment—standing in the booth and seeing my pieces fully realized in conversation with other remarkable works—was deeply meaningful. It’s that rare feeling when something you’ve crafted in solitude finally steps into the world. Pure elation.

For those who couldn’t see it in person, my ceramic sculpture Nephthys’ Vase and my painting Femme with Knife (study) were featured alongside works by an amazing roster of artists. Watching visitors engage with the pieces—whether it was a thoughtful pause, a lively conversation, or even a quick snapshot for Instagram—has been so rewarding.

This was my first time in Miami, and I felt that there’s something undeniably special about NADA. It’s not just the art—it’s the energy, the dialogue, and the connections that the work sparks. The fair feels like a living exchange of creativity and ideas, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at DIMIN for their vision and dedication, and to everyone who visited Booth C311. You made this experience truly unforgettable. For those who couldn’t attend, I’ve posted some installation shots, courtesy of the gallery, to bring a bit of the atmosphere to you.

Announcing My Representation by DIMIN, New York

I’m over the moon to share some exciting news: I’m officially represented by DIMIN in New York! This is a huge moment in my journey as an artist, and I couldn’t be happier to partner with a gallery that’s as passionate about pushing creative boundaries as I am.

From the very start, the DIMIN team has made me feel right at home, and I’m so energized by their vision and support. Joining their roster of insanely talented artists is such an honor, and I’m beyond excited for what’s ahead—new projects, exhibitions, and plenty of surprises along the way.

My painting, Smoke Break, is part of the Brooklyn College Faculty Exhibition opening Thursday, November 7th from 5:30-7:30PM in Boylan Hall. Stop by, say hello, see some art, and enjoy the picturesque campus during fall season– it’s a beautiful time of year.

The show runs November 7th-December 20th, with gallery hours on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s 10:00AM-5:30PM and Thursday’s and Friday’s 10:00AM-3:00PM. I’ll update this post with installation photos after the event.

Best Laid Plans, Sept 9 – Oct 19, Peninsula

I’m so delighted to share my new body of work, completed over the summer, where I attempt to relay the subconscious impulses that make up my gestures and forms.

From the press release:

Peninsula is pleased to present Whit Harris’s inaugural New York City solo exhibition, Best Laid Plans, opening on September 6 from 6-9 PM at 13 Monroe Street, New York, NY. Harris’s most recent paintings further build upon her explorations of the black femme body. In this ongoing series of works, the figures depicted are manifestations of Harris’s own emotional turmoil, formed by being entrenched in a culture of patriarchy, colonialism, and white supremacy.

The subjects of these paintings are trapped in varying Arcadian scenes evocative of the classical, European tradition of landscape painting. However, in Harris’s hands, these environments come to represent society’s unrelenting oppressive systems. The femmes’ bodies are in conflict with their settings—twisted, cramped, and in some cases, segmented into pieces. Grass, clouds, rain, and smoke wrap around their forms, contorting the figures into cartoonishly over-extended poses. The sky, ground, and other natural features poke and prod, crush and entangle. These highly exaggerated figures, sharply contrasting with their settings, delve into the complexities of identity and power.
